1. Purpose

The chair ‘Information and Communications Technologies and Radio-Electronic Means’ was established within the Faculty of Information Systems and Technologies on basis of the order of the Head of Ulyanovsk State Technical University dated from December 06, 2010, according to a cooperation agreement between Ulyanovsk State Technical University and RPA ‘Mars’ dated from June 21, 2010.

The purpose of its creation is to train specialists in the field of development of hardware and software for C2 systems.

2. Education

The educational process is carried out in a specialized group which is formed by students of the Faculty of Information Systems and Technologies, department ‘Computer Engineering’, and those of the Radio-Engineering Faculty, department ‘Radio-Engineering’, starting from the 4th year of the education (specialist’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees).

To organize the educational process, the optional disciplines of the chairs ‘Computer Engineering’ and ‘Radio-Engineering’ were amended as per the needs of RPA ‘Mars’.

4th year:

  • 1. technologies of cross-platform programming;
  • 2. computer design of digital devices;
  • 3. processor, programmable array and EPLD devices;
  • 4. researches;
  • 5. thesis of bachelor's degree.

5th year (specialist’s degree):

  • 1. design of antenna systems;
  • 2. researches;
  • 3. thesis of specialist's degree.

5th year (master’s degree):

  • 1. web-technologies;
  • 2. basis of XML-technologies;
  • 3. relational and object-oriented databases;
  • 4. researches.

6th year (master’s degree):

  • 1. theory of modeling of computer-aided systems;
  • 2. basis of service-oriented architecture;
  • 3. design of systems for digital processing of signals;
  • 4. statistics methods of signal processing;
  • 5. researches;
  • 6. thesis of master's degree.

The education will be carried out by the instruction according to the above special courses, through a practical work using the ‘Mars’ equipment, term papers, degree theses, bachelor's and master's theses within the consolidated group of the students of the Faculty of Information Systems and Technologies.

3. Student Admission

The students are selected during the 5th half-year, as a rule, during May and June. The applicants hand in the applications to the Head of Ulyanovsk State Technical University at the dean's office of the Faculty of Information Systems and Technologies for the admission to the chair ‘Information and Communications Technologies and Radio-Electronic Means’. Then, in the beginning of September, each student has an interview at the chair ‘Information and Communications Technologies and Radio-Electronic Means’ followed by the decision on his admission taking into account the previous-course exams passed.

The educational process starts from the 4th year of the education, and is carried out under special educational plans. The training is carried out according to the 5- and 6-year educational plans. After the graduation, the students receive their appropriate diploma like all the graduates of the University, but all the disciplines learned during the educational process at the chair, are additionally indicated.
